Meet teen crime-busters Sohail Hussain and Gabriel Dobrashian-Yates – set to change the face of policing in Birmingham.
The youngsters are two of 14 youth police and crime commissioners aged between 13 and 20 who have been elected in the West Midlands covering 2.5 million people.
Sohail, aged 17, and Gabriel, aged 16, have volunteered to represent young people’s concerns to play a key role in shaping policing in their home city.
They are planning to accompany bobbies on their beat and to meet with alienated youths hanging out on street corners to make their mark.
Sohail, from Ladywood , who is studying for his A-levels at King Edward VI College in Stourbridge, wants to tackle knife crime, which claimed the lives of 19 victims in the West Midlands last year.
He also wants to battle child sex exploitation, including gangs preying on young girls in inner city areas.
