Birmingham's Eid Mela took place at Cannon Hill
Park today, celebrating the diversity of the city’s
Muslim community through its culture, food, sport, art and
entertainment.
Now in its 14th year, the popular festival is a celebration of Eid, which marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim period of fasting.
This year, the free annual event includes live music from an array of artists, including Canadian-based Roach Killa, as well as Hunterz, Bona Fide, Shide Boss and Sama Blake.
Chair of Birmingham Eid Mela Steering Group, said: “The Big John’s Birmingham Eid Mela is a fantastic opportunity for people to come together for a celebration that promises to be even bigger and better than last year’s event. As a council, we are proud to include Eid Mela as part of our annual programme of cultural events and festivals.
There will also be funfair rides, a sports area hosting a Kabaddi tournament, a bazaar with clothing, jewellery, music and craft stalls, plus a whole host of catering units selling a vast array of traditional Asian food.
The event runs from 1pm to 7pm and free public car parking is available at Warwickshire Cricket Ground, with limited parking also available at the mac arts complex.
