BPYC Cricket Team Edgbaston Cricket Ground 2014

Edgbaston Cricket Ground, also known as the County Ground or Edgbaston Stadium, is a cricket ground in the Edgbaston area of Birmingham, England. It is home to Warwickshire County Cricket Club, and is also used for Test matches, One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals.

Birmingham Eid Mela 2014

Birmingham's Eid Mela took place at Cannon Hill Park today, celebrating the diversity of the city’s Muslim community through its culture, food, sport, art and entertainment.

Now in its 14th year, the popular festival is a celebration of Eid, which marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim period of fasting.
This year, the free annual event includes live music from an array of artists, including Canadian-based Roach Killa, as well as Hunterz, Bona Fide, Shide Boss and Sama Blake.

Chair of Birmingham Eid Mela Steering Group, said: “The Big John’s Birmingham Eid Mela is a fantastic opportunity for people to come together for a celebration that promises to be even bigger and better than last year’s event. As a council, we are proud to include Eid Mela as part of our annual programme of cultural events and festivals.

There will also be funfair rides, a sports area hosting a Kabaddi tournament, a bazaar with clothing, jewellery, music and craft stalls, plus a whole host of catering units selling a vast array of traditional Asian food.

The event runs from 1pm to 7pm and free public car parking is available at Warwickshire Cricket Ground, with limited parking also available at the mac arts complex.

Welcome to Birmingham's Youth Service

Birmingham Youth Service works to provide all young people, aged from 11 to 25 years in Birmingham, with a range of enjoyable opportunities, challenging experiences and effective support that will enhance their personal, social and educative development and sense of identity during the transition to adulthood. The strength of the Youth Service lies in the relationship between its staff and the young people they work with, developed over time and which progress in accordance with the needs of those young people.
The values and principles that lie at the heart of effective youth work shape these relationships. These principles are:

Providing a range of opportunities enabling young people to gain knowledge and information, learn new skills and make informed choices about their lives.

Meet the teenage crime commissioners working with West Midlands Police

Youth role will see 14 youngsters accompany bobbies on their beat and to meet with alienated youths hanging out on street corners

Meet teen crime-busters Sohail Hussain and Gabriel Dobrashian-Yates – set to change the face of policing in Birmingham.
The youngsters are two of 14 youth police and crime commissioners aged between 13 and 20 who have been elected in the West Midlands covering 2.5 million people.
Sohail, aged 17, and Gabriel, aged 16, have volunteered to represent young people’s concerns to play a key role in shaping policing in their home city.
They are planning to accompany bobbies on their beat and to meet with alienated youths hanging out on street corners to make their mark.
Sohail, from Ladywood , who is studying for his A-levels at King Edward VI College in Stourbridge, wants to tackle knife crime, which claimed the lives of 19 victims in the West Midlands last year.
He also wants to battle child sex exploitation, including gangs preying on young girls in inner city areas.
